It'll include as much info i already know, and am going to know with more research to be done.

Radical and Outrageous will be the theme. "Bold" is an understatement.

Then, my next paper will be on another topic dear to singaporean government's heart and also have to do with sustainability - Improving Birth Rates in Singapore. I promise to be equally radical.

Environmental and World Issues Blog

Hi all,

Jus wanted to say, I'm going to change my blog to alot more niche.

With most issues focused on Enviromental and World issues especially on the investment side.

I don't invest. So I'll just use this blog as my research blog for keeping my links and thoughts and other research materials.

I'll talk about what environment scene is currently up to, which companies in the alternative energy sector are probably doing well or going to, which environmental fund would have good prospects, what challenges lay ahead for these companies and the implications of not having a ready solution to both the environment and to these companies.

I'll also talk about issues directly or indirectly affecting the environment. Like which president is going to succeed Bush and why he's good/bad.

I'll also talk about global issues every now and then.

I'll probably have book reviews as well. Of mainly environmental books or science books.

I'll most probably move this blog soon as maintaining a limited PAYING blog with limited "greens in my wallet" is a bit dumb when I have better CSS skills now and a brother who does CSS websites for a living.

Why we can't do without nature.

This guy has said all i have wanted to say about the topic of preserving nature and why we must do it and that it is our responsibility to do it.

it's lik a women saying "I do" gets engaged, sets up the wedding date,

if one commits and admits 2 being an environmental friendly nation,

go all out to do certain things...

considering that contrary to the above report,

the cleanest diesel engine available globally is not only much cleaner than petrol,

it's also more efficient.

something not many singaporeans don't know about.

CNG would be the pinnacle of it.

by virtue of the fact gahmen pegged CNG's price to a petrol derivative

shows how many "sidesteps" were taken to increase profit margins.

altho i admit i'm speculating.

CNG shud b much cheaper for its own merits.

not because if u can't put a price or value to it, you have 2 find a currently on market item to derive a price.

Climate crisis: Roosevelt revisited

No simple techno-fix exists that can reduce greenhouse gas emissions fast or far enough to solve the problem

But time is short, very short.

New and cautious calculations by the New Economics Foundation's (nef) climate change programme suggest that we may have as little as 100 months starting from August 2008 to avert uncontrollable global warming.

With all the hype about palmtops and laptops going on for eons,  there's now finally something for us "lesser" geeks who just wana read something with out carrying 10 mags and 3-5 books in our bags.

I'll cut to the chase,  I'd go for the Kindle anytime.

why?

1)  The Kindle store has a much wider stock and growing rapidly. And more readily available because of its free wireless using high speed cellphone networks.

2)  It CAN read pdf.  But you'd need to convert it to a kindle friendly format which is available. And subsequently you can adjust the font size. Sony Reader can read PDFs but you can adjust the size.

3)  you have access to dictionaries, and can buy and add more dictionaries.

4) you have access to wikipedia

5) you can access not only blogs, but subscribe to periodicals on it as well.

6) it's a normal web-surfer!  tho u'd not be seeing jav-scripts, applets or flash scripted sites.

The bad about Kindle???

1) In singapore we'd still need to buy thru kindle store online our computers and download them as these networks are currently only american based.

2) I'd rather a choice between color based screen for web-surfing and then the kindle default screen for books.

3)  i'd also want a bigger internal hard drive and the ability to use my SD memory cards on it.

And worst,  it's only selling in america at the moment!
